About
I have around 13 years practical experience as Oracle DBA, during this time I have done several things which are not DBA related such as Data Warehouse Support, PL/SQL, PRO*C Programmer, Shell Script Programmer and have done quite a few SQL Tuning. I’ve got also experience with Oracle Application Server since Release 1 (iAS) to Fusion Middleware 11gR2 (WebLogic, Forms, Reports, ECM etc), Oracle E-Business Suite 11i and R12 (as Applications DBA), as well as Grid/Cloud Control. Quite fluent in UNIX/Linux environments, to be honest I prefer working with Oracle stuffs under UNIX And Linux environments simply because these platforms commands are so powerful that saves me so much time (and so much customer’s money
). For the last 18 months or so I also work with Oracle VM v2.x and v3.x.
I went independent as Oracle Consultant on 2005, since then I have worked for HP, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Siemens, Indra and some other local companies. In 2009 I started a small company focusing on Oracle Professional Services, Database Tier 2 and 3 Advanced Support and short term assignments and projects. For long term projects my role is usually part time Oracle Specialist.
From 2005 I dedicate quite a large amount of my time working with Oracle RAC and Data Guard and specially on UNIX platforms, in the last few years I have been working with a few Extended RAC projects with success, it works. The rest of the time I deal with performance troubleshooting, features implementations (Flashback, Resource Manager, RAT), security, streams, backup and recovery, architecture, sql development, pl/sql, version upgrades and platforms migrations which is not my favourite task until 10g because it is not very amusing spending days exporting and importing, extracting DDL and creating indexes in parallel and nologging, not much to learn! For the last couple of years I have used Oracle GoldenGate for a few platform migration projects with decent success.
I also participate in quite a few Oracle E-Business Suites projects, most of them migrations and upgrades as technical consultant or Apps DBA. I am quite happy working with EBS although sometimes one can get desperate with it. EBS is fun because you learn a lot with it.
I used to participate quite actively in several Oracle Forums since 2000. I am one of fortunate guys who got the right to moderate DBASupport forums and OraES forum (Spanish speaking Oracle Community). I am also subscribed to Oracle-L list, it is moderated by Steve Adams. You get quite good advices here.
As some professional credentials I currently hold following certifications:
Oracle Certified Professional 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g
Oracle Certified Expert Oracle Database 10g Real Application Clusters Administrator
Oracle Certified Expert Oracle Database 10g Managing Oracle on Linux
Oracle Certified Master Oracle Database 10g
Oracle Certified Master Oracle Database 11g
Currently I live in Madrid, Spain.
